Practical magnetic particle inspectionLevel 2 - generalDuration 5 days (4 days - course and 1 day - exam)
also available as a 4-day training course only (ref NDT30)Fee To be announcedCourse content
Principles of magnetism; magnetic fields; induction; permeability and reluctance; magnetisation; lines of force, methods of testing; interpretation of indications; demagnetisation; practical exercises; methods of assessing sensitivity; instruction writing. During the Level 2 instruction writing and application, students requiring only Level 1 training will carry out practical applications to written instructions. The coverage is very similar to that given on the Practical Magnetic and Penetrant Inspection Level 2 (General or Aerospace) course, but the greater time available allows for more in-depth study. This course can be combined with the Penetrant Aerospace Inspection course to give an extended theory and practice course in MPI and penetrant testing. There are a number of dates throughout the year where these courses run consecutively.
The course ends with a written and practical test.
All aerospace NDT personnel, inspectors and technicians engaged in, or responsible for, inspection of castings, forgings or fabricated items during manufacture or in-service.
Suitable for personnel in the aerospace industry. Non-experienced aerospace technicians should attend the dedicated aerospace training course NDT30MEA.
- to explain the basic principles of magnetic particle inspection methods
- to carry out magnetic particle inspection
- to write clear and concise inspection instructions and test reports
